Objectives:

Learn how telling stories can build connections with children, calm anxieties, and soothe pain. Storytelling is one of the oldest teaching methods. Join us to learn simple tips that will build your skills at telling stories in order teach pre-academic/academic skills. You will learn how to use stories to correct children's behavior without conflict or tantrums.

Outcomes: 

At the end of this session, participants will be able to: - Identify how storytelling builds literacy skills in young children. - Utilize storytelling to teach concepts. - Create a story for children in order to build social-emotional connections.

 

Content Areas

4c: Use a broad repertoire of developmentally appropriate, culturally and linguistically relevant, anti-bias, evidence-based teaching skills and strategies that reflect the principles of universal design for learning. (1.5 Hours)
5a: Understand content knowledge— the central concepts, methods and tools of inquiry, and structure—and resources for the academic disciplines in an early childhood curriculum. (0.5 Hours)
