Summary

Supervision is an important word in the field of early care, but many providers are unaware of active supervision strategies and how they should be implemented. This lack of knowledge can have serious consequences for children, families, caregivers, and facilities. This training session will explore the importance, best practices, and practical techniques for active supervision. In addition, information is given for caregivers that include children with behavioral, physical, and mental challenges in their programs.

Objectives:
Participants will gain a working knowledge of the characteristics and importance of active supervision; understand the consequences when supervision is not adequate; explore ideas that enhance supervision; and learn the special requirements of children with behavioral, physical, and mental challenges.
